Hej,

Seppo Äyräväinen Dear Erik, Rasmus and Lise,

Thank You (and your colleagues) again for the great workshop!

I am glad to announce that our professor Lauri Savioja, and director Mika Iltanen from Tampere have now decided to host the next CAVE Programming workshop here in Finland. The workshop will be hosted by Helsinki University of Technology, in cooperation with Tampere University of Technology. More details, including the address of the forthcoming workshop web pages will be announced later.

Claus Balling Feedback on 2nd Cave-Programming Workshop:

I would like to express my appreciation to the speakers and the arranging team of the 2nd Cave-Programming Workshop, Oct. 2-4, 2002.

I am an assistant professor in mechanical engineering. My research field is analysis and (real time)simulation of mechanical systems (vehicles, machines, mechanisms, etc.). My motivation for participating in this workshop is that I would like to create my simulations in a graphic environment instead of just creating graphical interface files as my output. I also need tools to time my dynamic integrations to be sure my simulations actually run in real time.

Before the workshop, I was a little concerned, if I could benefit from this class with my limited graphics programming skills. I did, however, experience alot of help and advice from lecturers, the workshop team and classmates, which has made it possible for me to proceed on my own. One of the lecturers and I even initiated plans for future collaborative work.

The arrangement itself (lecturing subjects, timing, meals, etc.) was at a very high quality level, and gave a very good opportunity to socialize and make contacts with people in the field. The VR Media staff even made a tour of the graphics facilities - arranged on the spot - due to requests from the participants. That was very impressive.

My only comment is the time available for the workshops, which was already discussed at the closing meeting. The time was a little to short, since the excercises involved alot of new areas (at least to me).

Thank you very much for a well arranged workshop.

A very satisfied participant.
