Q: How do I get a
username?
A: In order to get a user name on the computer systems you must first fill out
an online form. You must also complete the online form even tough you might
already have done this at a previous semester. Once done, please goto room
3-228. Here you need to contact Thorsten Gudmundsen who is the user manager at
VR Media Lab.

When you have acquired your user name you need to
activate it on the VR Media Lab computer system. If you are haveing trouble
with this or have any questions, contact Thorsten Gudmundsen in room 3-228.

Q: How do I get
access to the rooms with card readers
A: You need an updated access card to enter certain areas at VR Media Lab and
CVMT, and to gain access to the university buildings after normal hours
(08:00-16:00). Please fillout the online form for
access cards below. You must also complete the onlineform even tough you might
already have done this at a previous semester. Once done, please goto room
3-228 located in the basement at VR Media Lab. Here you need to contact
Thorsten Gudmundsen who is the security manager at VR Media Lab.

Q: How do I get
access to my email?
A: You have two possibilities. Ether by using the web mail client or by using A dedicated email program. You can access the web mail here:
webmail.vrml.aau.dk. If you like to use at dedicated email program, you need configure It to use our imap server, which is imap.vrml.aau.dk and out
smtp server: mail.vrml.aau.dk. A guide for setting it up in Mozilla Thunderbird

Q: How do I connect
my computer to the wired local network
A: The network card's MAC address need to registered.
Guide for finding the MAC address in Windows
Click on the link below to register the MAC address. You simply need to log in
using your personal VRML username and password (the page can only be access
from computers on the VRML networks), and write the MAC-address of the computer
(network-card) that should be registered/allowed to access the network in your
name. The registration will be activated a couple of minutes later and will
stay valid as long as the computer is connected to the AAU/VRML network on a
regular basis, e.g., at least once a month. It is no longer necessary to
register in which room the computer will be connected to the network as the
network equipment at VRML now automatically sets up the correct network
connection based on the MAC-address.
Remember: You are personally responsible for everything on the
computer(s) registered by you, including the legitimacy of the installed
programs and files, that you have the updated and running anti-virus program
required by the university, and for all network traffic to and from your
computer.

A: To access the file server from Windows you need to point Windows Explore to
\\vrml\.

A: First you need to access the file server, which also doubles as A printer server. You can install the printers you need to

Q: How do I access
the VR Media Lab computer systems, when I'm not at the University?
A: That depends on what you would to access. E-mail is accessed the same way as
you would then you are at the University. If you would like to access your
files on the file server from Windows, you can use ether WinSCP or the VPN
client.

browser you use: In Internet Explorer, you can set proxy to automatically –
